They have been there since last year. Mum didn't pull them out because she thought they were dead but they weren't.
Some of them were very small. Mum says this is because she didn't "thin" them properly and they were too close together without room to grow.
A few of them were really big though. Mum rang her friend Linda and she said they may taste a bit woody but would be great for soup.
I don't like soup but i'm going to help Mum or Dad make it anyway.
After digging up the parsnips I planted my herbs. Father Christmas gave me them. I put lots of compost in a pot and then watered it and left it for half and hour.
Then I took out these matchsticks and stuck them in the pot. The matchsticks had seeds on the end.
Zill, Cos and I also helped Mum empty the old pots and turn over the soil in the veg patch. Dad burnt some of the garden rubbish.
We were really hungry after our gardening and had fish and chips for tea. We also watched Matilda on DVD. Mum read us the story a while ago and the film was really good. We knew what was going to happen.
Mrs Trunchball looked like I thought she would. Matilda didn't. They had American accents too but they didn't when Mum read the book.
