Pulling parsnips

We found loads of parsnips in our garden this afternoon.

They have been there since last year. Mum didn't pull them out because she thought they were dead but they weren't.

Some of them were very small. Mum says this is because she didn't "thin" them properly and they were too close together without room to grow.

A few of them were really big though. Mum rang her friend Linda and she said they may taste a bit woody but would be great for soup.

I don't like soup but i'm going to help Mum or Dad make it anyway.

After digging up the parsnips I planted my herbs. Father Christmas gave me them. I put lots of compost in a pot and then watered it and left it for half and hour.

Then I took out these matchsticks and stuck them in the pot. The matchsticks had seeds on the end.

Zill, Cos and I also helped Mum empty the old pots and turn over the soil in the veg patch. Dad burnt some of the garden rubbish.

We were really hungry after our gardening and had fish and chips for tea. We also watched Matilda on DVD. Mum read us the story a while ago and the film was really good. We knew what was going to happen.

Mrs Trunchball looked like I thought she would. Matilda didn't. They had American accents too but they didn't when Mum read the book.

Cakes in a pan

Best recipe for pancakes:

5oz plain flour

7 fl oz milk

and butter in the saucepan to stop them sticking.

Dad made us all pancakes tonight. Dippers was here and he had a go at tossing and eating.

I had syrup and spinkles on mine. Zill ate heres plain - my sister is weird.

All other things Disney

Disneystudios

Parades and shows

We saw the Disney parade twice.

The first time we stood by the enterence here all the characters come out and the second time we stood next to the enterence to Adventureland just near the castle.

It was really cool. There was lots of different music and some of the characters were walking and came and touched us. The Princesses and their Princes also got down from their carriages and walked about.

We saw charcters we didn't see walking round the park and even saw Pooh who seemed really rare even though we saw Tigger and Eeyore ... no Piglet to be found though.

We also went to a show called Buffallo Bill's Wild West show on our first night. We ate dinner and watched cowboys riding horses and talking to cows. Mum didn't like it but we enjoyed hitting out knives and forks on our plates and waving our cowboy hats up and down.

All the audience were divided into colours. We were yellow and had a yellow band on our hat. Our cowboys were very good. We should have won but green did.

I wanted to put more pictures on this blog but 5 was the most it would let me do. You can see the rest on flickr ... let me know if Mum or me need to give you access to our pictures.

Characters

This is Dale. He is my favourite character and Zill and I met him first in the park. Zillyan spotted him a long way off and he was at the enterance to Adventureland.

She has met him before when she came to Disneyland 3 years ago. Her favourite character is Chip - Dale's friend.

Cosmic's favourite character could have been Pluto. At first he was wary of all the characters but by the end he was chasig some of them and kissed Pluto, Chip and Mickey Mouse on the nose.

We all had autograph books and managed to get 25 different characters to sign our books. We also had pictures with Eeyore and the Monsters Inc monster who could not sign our books because of their big paws.

We met the characters in the parks, at breakfast in our hotel and in the restaurants. In one restaurant - the Auberge de Cendrillon we met lots of princesses, one Prnce (Philip) and Cinderalla's mice (Perla and Suzy).

Here is a list of all the people who signed our books - Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Scrooge McDuck, Pluto, Goofy, Chip, Dale, White Rabbit, Friar Tuck, Robin Hood (Cosi got this one for us because we were on a ride and he was waiting for us in the studios), Penguin (from Mary Poppins), Tigger, Captain Hook, Gapetto, Pinocchio, Buzz, Jesse, Prince Philip, Belle, Aurura, Snow White, Cinderella, Perla, Suzy and Baloo.

Main Street

Discoveryland

Fantasyland

Adventureland

Adventureland was next to Frontierland and Fantasyland.

It is at the top left of the park.

We explored a lot and the caves and tunnels were really cool.

Things we went on:

Adventure Isle - "We went into lots of secret caves and tunnels inclusing one that took us inside the skull built into a "mountain face". Zill and I also ran across a suspension bridge.

Le Cabane des Robinson (The Swiss Family Treehouse) - Zill, Cos, Mum and I climbed to the top of this really big tree while Dad went on Space Mountain. We were too small to go on Space Mountain and it said you should be at least 10.

Le Passage Enchanté d'Aladdin (Aladdin's Enchanted Passage) - We went round this display and saw Aladdin on his magic carpet and the lamp in a glass case.

Pirates of the Caribbean - This was the coolest ride in this part of the park and the best thing in Adventureland. It wasn' a roller coaster but we sat in little boats and went fast at times. We saw loads of scary pirate stuff and it was quite dark. Mum sat with Cosmic and he didn't cry.

We also had dinner next to the Pirate Ship ride on the second night. We watched all the people in the boats go past us and we shouted to them. They waved back.

The restaurant is called the Blue Lagoon and the waiter tried to give Cosmic pureed carot. When Mum complained they tried to give him a toddler meal made of real life duck. Mum got cross and they made him green beans and potatoes!

Zill and I had tomato pasta. The food wasn't that nice but the scenery was cool and it was fun to sit right next to the ride!

There was another ride in this area called Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. i really wanted to do this but I was too small. Dad went on it and said it was really good but quite short.

Next time we come to Adventureland I bet I am big enough.

Frontierland

Frontierland is full of guns and big hats. All the shops look like they are made of wood and sell rifles and leather stuff.

I liked this land because it had my faavourite ride in it.

Things we went on:

Legends of the Wild West - this is a playarea at the enterance of the land.

Big Thunder Mountain - this was such a cool runaway train. It was my favourite ride. We did it twice although Cosmic and Mum did not go on it because Cosi is too short and would have been scared.
Dad took a video of me on it and I will post this soon. I cannot fit it on this entry because it is so long.

Phantom Manor - Zill and I went on this with Mum while Dad stayed with an asleep Cosi. I was a bit scared in the bit before we got on the ride because you get put in a lift and you feel yourself going down and the pictures on the walls going up. It also went very dark.

Zill and I both wanted to get on a cart with Mum to go round the house but as there was only two in a cart Mum went by herself and Zill and I went together. I held Zilly's hand and it was fun!

Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing - We got on a boat here called the Molly Brown . Mum said it was like a big old fashioned American boat. Dad and I had a row and I got told off.

We also had tea in Frontierland on the last day at The Lucky Nugget Saloon. The cakes weren't that nice but we met laods of characters including a few we had not seen before like Captain Hook and Geppetto (who i think is rare).

Dancing makes me hungry

I have just eaten all my dinner without wingeing or mucking about.

Should I be concerned that Mum's just passed out from the shock?

Derbie Disco Diva

Just got back from the school disco and I am shattered. Lying on sofa watching space pirates.

Disco fab. I danced with Owen and Jack B-M and Max. We danced to Mamma Mia and other songs in the big hall.

Halfway through dancing we had crisps for a snack and orange squash. Some people had blackcurrant squash or water.

Register

Following on from yesterday's entry I chose William to come with me to deliver the register this morning.

I chose Alesha this afternoon.

Tiger who came to tea

We went to see this at the Capitol yesterday. Sarah took Zill, Cosi and I and lots of others came - Gail, Emily, Oliver, Trudie, Ocean and Charlotte.

It was really good. There was a giant tiger and he ate all the buns and drank all Daddy's beer. Daddy was really rather upset about it all.

More special rabbits

Max was the special person yesterday and chose me to go with him, in the morning, to Mr Goodall with the register.

I am going to be the special person tomorrow. I think I am going to chose Max to go with me in the morning and go on my own in the afternoon. You are allowed to go on your own. Really. Truly.

I might change my mind though. I will tell you.

I do through-squats.

Alcina is 5

And I went to her birthday party at he Pavilions.

Dad took me and Trudie bought me home. Trudie stayed for the whole party because parents could stay if they helped.

We had a great time and Alcina seemed to really enjoy herself. William was there but Max, Owen and the 2 Jacks weren't.

The party bag was fab. It was homemade and had my name on. Zilly said she wants party bags like that for her birthday but then she said she wasn't going to have party bags.

I don't get my sister.

Les Animaux

Animal themed day today ...

1. We learnt about animals at French club ... we learnt to say penguin and sheep in French and many others too .....

2. I have decided I am going to be an Animal Man when i am a grown up. I am going to take animals to show people in schools and things and teach them all about them. The people will not be allowed to hold the snakes or skunk though and they will not be allowed to squash the beetles.

3. I am tired and in a bad mood. Mum and Dad tried to cheer me up by reading Fat Cat (James Sage). I am not cheered up. They are fat pigs.

Winston Wolf's Reading Challenge

I completed this challenge for the second time today.

Every day you can move up a special chart if you have read the night before. Each day on the chart is a book cover and when you get to the top you get a prize.

Last time I got a sharpener. Today I got a magic painting book. Thank you Mrs Etherington and Mrs Harris.

Oh and before I forget you'll never beleive it but William has finished his reading diary already. I am not even halfway through and I read most nights! Mum says William probably reads lots and his Mum and Dad must have big handwriting!

Really good at singing man ...

... this is what I'd be called if I was a rock star. And this is what I'd look like.

Hair cut 100

Well 1 actually.

Mum took me to the hairdressers. My hairdresser was caled Hayley. It was my first time.

I wanted my hair cut because I don't want to wear it up anymore. Everyone thinks I am a girl. Mum says they are silly but I am fed up.
Grandma paid for my haircut. Thank you Grandma.

My hair is now exactly on my shoulders so I shouldn't have to wear it up.
I think I look like a rock star now. I made Mum take lots of pictures.

Good work assembly

We did assembly today.

We told the whole school the story of Harry and the Robots. Adn the assembly began with the music to Dr Who.

Some people pretended to be robots and Sadie, Joe and Lauren dressed up with robot tummies.

I was part of the phot story and even had a line to say. I said "That's how you control stuff".

Snow tweet

Check out Mum's picture of our garden. She took it while I was at gymnastics and Zill was at the doctor having her sore ear examined.

Mum put this photo on twitter.

It has stopped snowing here now but there is still lots of snow on the ground and our teachers said that it will be very icy tomorrow so we have to be careful.

Mrs King day

Mrs King took assembly today and we also saw her when all of rabbits were walking to the woods in the snow.

She told us all we had great wellie boots.

Dad loves Mrs King. He wants to kiss her.

School's out

Gym now but NO SCHOOL TOMORROW.

Practice for the playground

But before we head off ... just one snowball?

Poetry in snowtime

White stuff everywhere.
Still falling.
Wellies on.
School now.

Snow school

60 schools where i live are closed.

Mine isn't one of them.

Take a look inside a book ...

Mum: "What's your favourite book in the world?"

Me: " I haven't read all the books in the world so i don't know. I want to read all the books in the world"

Mum: "OK. So what is your favourite book that you have read now?"

Me: "What are the books that aren't reading books or story books called?"

Mum: "Like what. Your weather book?"

Me: "Books that tell you things"

Mum: "Reference books"

Me: "Reference books about space and weapons then"

Mum: "Good. Night then Derbie"

Rustom et Rustom et some Everingtons too

Here is what happens at a party in the Rustom house with the Rustom clan ....

The grown ups sit in the kitchen and talk about politics, ethics and hair cuts .... sometimes other subjects come up too and AP often tells rubbish jokes which i find very funny but Mum says i don't always get.

Kai walks between the kitchen and kids area which is usually the living room. Kai cannot decide if he is a grown up or not yet. He is very tall and clever but he doesn't drink lots of beer or coffee yet. Today he was so confused that he went into his own room and played the piano. Kai is very good and Mum says i might be that good at the cello one day if i practice and am very lucky.

While he was playing AP went in to sing with him.

I usually play the w-ii in the living room or wath a film with Za, Zill and Amy. Cosi wonders round like a faulty R2 unit hal playing with us and half eating whatever piece of fruit or cake he can find.

Today we all played the World of Goo on the Wii. Dippers gave it to Dad for his birthday. It is really really cool. You have to get the blob of goo into the hoover by joining the goo blobs together .... sort of.

We are family

Last day of Birthday Week for Daddy and we had a party.

Moo, AP, Kai, Amy,Za, Grandma, Grandpa and UZ came to lunch. Moo made scrambled eggs which everyone loved except me and Cos. Then we ate the cake which Grandma and Mum bought and sang happy birthday again!

Cosi wasn't allowed any cake because he didn't eat the scrambled eggs and croissant. Then Kai ate Cosi's lunch when no one was looking and Cosi got cake. Everyone grumbled at Kai ... everyone except Cosi who kept hugging his legs and saying thank you.
