DS tribute to Dad's birthday and Day 6

Cat knew he was coming ...

...so she baked a cake. Really.

She came round with Alex and Torrin for tea and after giving him a botle of whisky which made hime very happy she showed him his chocolate swiss roll cake.

She lit the lit candles and we all sang.

I didn't eat all my cake because my tummy hurt but everyone else scoffed it all - it was really special and Dad is really lucky.

Grandma has bought him a cake for tomrrow too which will be the last day of Dad's birthday week. I think Mum may have one too .... will i get three cakes on my birthday ... oh and a whole week of parties and presents?

Cavies

Cattook me to dancing today because Mum went to Maidenbower with Dad.

They went to look at someone's garden and talk to the man who lived in the house about keeping chickens. He has three and knows all about them. Mum organised it for Daddy's birthday because Dad wants chickens in our garden.

When they finished they came to colect me from Cat and Alex's house. Cosmic was with me and then we went to get Zilly from Stagecoach. On the way home we stopped at Hiliers garden centre and looked at guine pigs.

I would love a guinee pig and we were even alowed to stroke a black one with long hair. He was very sweet. I thought Mum might relent and buy one but she still has issues about animals in cages. She did go home and read all about them with Dad on the computer though.

Tall tales

I pick prickles out of hedgehogs, set them on fire and stick them in my school friend's faces.

When i go to my friend's houses I pull the radiators off the walls ...

Only joking but not sure if Kay's husband and the lady whose little girl ws having a cello lesson afte me thought so .....

My smashing Granny

Granny came to school yesterday for Grandpaents Day. I showed her my classroom, Zillyan's classroom, the halls and all around the school. I also showed her my picture on the wall in the corridor showing that i am rabbits class representative.

We sat in the lcassroom with Mrs Etherington and asked our grannies questions. I asked Granny whether she had packed lunches when she was at school. She said she didn't because the school made her lunch. There were childern who lived at Granny's school and they needed a p;roper hot lunch.

Granny was a little late to school though because she crashed her new car. She was parking near my house and no one was hurt but three cars including Granny's were damaged. The police came because the cars were blocking the road and Granny's car was taken to the garage.

Like a 5 year old boy ...

Mira's birthday today and Broadbridge Heath leisure centre.

It was fab. When Dad collected us he asked if I had been good. Mira's Mum said I had "behaved like a 5 year old boy". I could tell Dad was very proud.

Le point

Wehn we do good things in French club Janet gives us points.

Last week I had 8 and this week I got loads more - 20. I have more than Zill and Eliza (Sofia wasn't at the class yesterday because she was ill).

We made up a song with French words called Ca va comme ci comme ca ..... it was fun and my favourite bits were when i got points.

Competitive pupil

Another school meeting today we talked about a competition that we could all enter.

I said that we shouldn't be allowed to enter because we were on the school council .... but we didn't vote on it.

Suits you

Barack Obama had to say the words that made him President again today. Some people in America thought he had made too many mistakes the first time!

I saw all about this on the news and President Obama was wearing Dad's suit.

Woolfie cookies

Some people voting in my poll aren't sure what woolfie cookies look like.

To name and shame - one of Mum's friends at work called Tom.

So, for Tom, and any others of you who do not know, they look like this:

Becoming the new President

When Barack Obama is made President later today he has to read some words. They are a promise to Americans that he will try to be good when he is in charge ...

“I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of the President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

He probably won't have a sticker chart to show he is doing good things but if the American people like him his treat will be that after he has been President for 4 years he may get to be the President again for another 4 years.

Zillyan and I have a very busy day today as after school we go to our swimming lessons. Barack Obama's day is even busier! Here are all the things going on:

· Morning Worship Service (may be a private service) (this is the bit where they do God. American Presidents often do God apparantly)
· Procession to the Capitol – the outgoing President accompanies the President-elect (Obama will walk with Bush to the White House where Presidents live. I would like to live in a white house when i am older. Mum likes white houses too)
· Vice-President sworn in (he goes before Obama and says different words in his promise to be good. The new Vice President is called Joe Biden)
· President sworn in (this is where he says the words about being good)
· Inaugural address (this is where he tells people how he is going to be good)
· Departure of the outgoing President (this is where the old President - who was not good - goes away)
· Inaugural Luncheon (check out the menu - it looks yuk)
· Inaugural Parade (this is a bit like the parade in Disneyland I think where all the characters dance and sing about having a new President)
· Inaugural Balls (these are like fancy parties where people dress up in big dresses and men wear bow ties)

I hope President Obama still has time to check out our message to him ... and to Boo ...

Top hat ...

Barack Obama becomes the President of America today and we are taking our Obama hats to school to show our teachers and friends.

Mummy's friend from work John bought them for us when he was in America before Christmas. He was there to tell everyone about the election and that Obama had been chosen as the new President.

Thank you John - he love our hats.

Bowser Bike to China

Arfur is staying with us at the moment.

He lives in a place called China. Lots of people who are good at sport went there before Christmas and entered races and competitions.

Arfur bought us some souvenirs (little bags) of the races called the Olympics. In return we showed him some races called Super-Mario-Kart. He played against Zillyan and I. He wasn't very good but he did win one competition and is much better than Gareth... (and Mum)... (and Cat)... (and Alex)... (Dad is the best - but only because he is typing this blog for me)...

Meet and two veg

I had a school council meeting today. I didn't say anything because no one had told me anything to mention. Sadie from Squirrels said a few things.

We both voted on whether to change the time of the meeting. I voted no and so did most people so we didn't change the time and it will still be at lunchtime.

Some people wanted to do it at first playtime but Mrs Etherington told us it wasn't long enough for our meeting.

We talked about stuff to make the school better. Some one talked about the shed and Mrs Harris asked me what heppaned because she doesn't come to the meetings.

Class representative

Mr Goodall presented me with my school council badge today.

He called me up in the whole school Asembly and Mrs Etherington gave me the badge.

Representatives from other classes were given badges too.

I have to wear it on my jumper at all times to show I am the rabbits class representative.

I am very very proud and everyone says they are proud of me.

Short but Sweet

The Dog lady, Juliet, came yesterday to take Olivia back to the rescue centre.

She is lovely and while she was with us she learnt to sit and come when she was called.

She was also very gentle with Zill, Cosi and I but Mum and Dad decided she probably needed a quieter house. She also bit Sarah and Mum - not hard but a little - and the Dog Lady thought she should probably needed to get used to living in a home without small people.

I didn't put anything up on my blog yesterday because I felt a bit cross and sad. Mum and Dad have both explained it but I still don't really understand why she had to go back.

The Dog Lady has promised to tell us when Liv finds a new home and to call us with how she is doing.

Liv's bedtime

Dancing on Ice has finished and we have to go to bed ... but not before a sleeptime cuddle with Olivia.

Olivia seems to like cuddles. She seems to like us. She likes other dogs and likes dog treats. She likes the food the dog lady gave us but doesn't like the dry food Dad bought from the pet shop.

She does not seem to chew and isn't interested in the chicken flavoured chewy toy Dad got her. But she likes Dad and follows him about.

She doesn't like traffic but doesn't mind household noise and the TV.

She seems less keen on Dog. Or perhaps chasing Dog is a sign that she really likes him?

She doesn't like it when we aren't in the same room as her but she got the hang of the sofa pretty quickly and has already bagsied her spot on the left hand side.

She snores, but not as loudly as Cosi because that would be impossible!

First things first

Olivia meets the garden.

Olivia meets her dinner.

Olivia meets Cosi kisses.

Tail-gate Park

We left the kennels and went to Moo's to introduce Liv to Moo, AP and Zara (Kai and Amy were out). They seemed to like her and Zara wasn't too scared.

I didn't even get out the car because we had to be very quick. Next stop Tilgate Park where we met Zilly, Lara, Torrin,Cat and Alex. Mum walked Liv while we ate lunch at the pub and then Dad took her for a walk while we all played in the playpark.

After the park we took Liv to meet Grandma and Grandpa. I think they liked her too. Grandpa gave her a biscuit. Then we went to the Pet Shop to buy some food, toys and a cushion for her to sleep on. We put it on the landing when we got home.

Homeward Hound

We went to walk a dog called Olivia today. Mum and Dad wouldn't let us get our hopes up because another couple really like her and would like her to be part of their family.

Zilly did not come bacuase she doesn't like lots of barking and Olivia was at a kennels. She played with Lara instead.

When we arrived we walked her ina field with the dog lady we met yesterday and another dog lady. We fell in love with her straight away.

Dad asked if we could take her home, they said yes and Olivia jumped in our car.

We are now officially fostering Olivia ... with a intent apparantly!!!!

Dog lady

She came today. She really liked Daddy and she is going to let us adopt a dog. Not our Dog - the cat - he is already here - but a dog that probably won't be called Cat. That would just be confusing.

Twelve-candles-blowing

It was Amy's birthday and party yesterday. I didn't get to blog last night because we got back rather late and it was school today.

Amy looked beautiful in a red dress and crocs - very Amy - and we ate a cake in the shape of an ice cream which Lisa made.

Our Zell

Zellick died in the night. She cuddled Dad and Mum and then nested in a small space next to our sofa.

She was very old - 21 - and Mummy and Daddy rehomed her from a flat in Islington when they were at university. Dad chose her because even though she was really really shy she jumped onto his shoulder and wouldn't let go.

She has lived with Daddy since then and started living with Mummy when they all moved into a house in Hackney together.

Everyone is very sad.

I am going to ask Daddy to write a little bit about her on my blog when he isn't as sad as he is now.

If you guys have any memories of her, you can tell them too.

Fairy Godmother

I was back at school today and this is our first talk homework:

Question 1: "If you are given three wishes what would they be?"

My answers:
1. To have a real gun. (I could see Mum was impressed)
2. To have a spaceship.
3. When we have two dogs to have anohter one, so we have three.

Then I changed three to make everything in my bedrom real instead.

Zill's answers:
1. To have a dog.
2. To have everything in the world.
3. To be a shoe shop lady.

Question 2: Are all the wishes for (a) you or (b) have you wished for anything for other people.

Mine and Zill's answers = (a) Yes and (b) No.

Again Mum looked impressed ... or should that be depressed?

Doctor Smith I presume

This is the new doctor - what do you reckon? I like the look of him.

Dad says he is quite young and looks like someone Mum used to kiss.

Mum is sad because it is not John Simm who she would like to kiss.

It's my party ...

... well Cassie's party and I'm getting ready.

Owho and Trudie are coming to collect me and take me to the Pavilions but first I have to wrap my friend's present and write her card.

Give us a twirl

Practising with our new spaghetti forks from Moo and family. I made extra long spaghetti so they worked really well.

Holiday beard - you decide

Dad grew Xmas facial hair.

Grandma hated it.

Dad shaved it but left a holiday beard.

We thought the holiday beard was dodgy. Then Dad hit his head and we felt a little sorry for him. So nearly all of us decided it was quite cool really.

My Veggie Spag Bol

I made dinner for the family tonight using a recipe from my new cookery book which the Andersons gave me for Xmas.

Zill read the stages of the recipe out, Dad helped "prep" which he says means prepare the ingredients and the amounts needed and I ut evrything together (with Mum's help).

The recipe is as follows:

1 onion
1 tablespoons of olive oil *
a clove of garlic
225g minced beef **
1 beef stock cube ***
1 can chopped tomatos (400g)
2 tablespoons tomato puree
1 teaspoon dried mixed herbs ****

* I used a it more and din't measure my amount
** no cow for me .. i used corn mints (mum tells me this should read quor mince but zill isn't sure)
*** again no cow - marmite worked v well
**** we mixed our own herbs and I added mint too cos I like it

Wakehurst Wonderland

We have been to Wakehurst Place before but always seem to miss out the inside of the seed bank and the formal gardens by the house.

This time we did both. We went into the seed bank and saw real scientists in real white coats. Zill and I also did a computer quiz where we had to find different seeds in different vaults before the time ran out. We did it of course.

We learnt that precious seeds are often kept in really really really cold cupoards and the scientists have to wear protective clothing when they go and see the to keep them really warm.

We also saw plants inside that usually live in deserts. Some of them were prickly and Mum said they are called cacti.

Aftr the seed bank we walked round the gardens by the house and even went in to the old mansion. We saw a scary fireplace and next time we go are going to do some of the kids puzzles and drawing in the rooms of the house. This time we just had a quick peak and played outside. I liked the big canons at the front of the house - bang bang.

I also liked the big tree by the side door. It was an evergreen which i have been learning about at school. It was covered in Christmas Tree lights and I took a video of Mum.

Mum found some bird seed in her pocket. Dad said this was gross as it has been there ages but we fed some ducks and walked across pretty bridges. We also looked at some photos which were being displayed in the gardens - they were from a competition and were pictures of animals and pretty things .... one was a boy with a snail on his nose!

On the way out we saw the sun setting and my favourite tree was all lit up.

Democracy in action

We took a vote on what we should do today.

Mum voted for buying a toilet seat and going for walk.
So did Dad.
Zill, Cos and I voted to stay at home and do nothing.

So, we went to Homebase, Tesco and Wakehurst Place.

Cat-carting

After the park we had lunch and played on Cat .... then on the Wii taking on all the Rosses at MarioKart*.

* Sarah and Lloyd bought us MarioKart at Christmas and we love it! I am putting togethr my top tips and will report back on this blog shortly!

New Year's play

Just got back from the park with my family, Lara, Torrin, Cat and Alex.

We all played on the see saw except Torrin. It was very cold and he stayed in his pushchair where he was wrapped up in his cosy toes.
